Easy Peanut Butter Frosting Recipe

Have you ever had the Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter cups? I honestly dream about the filling. Which is why I’m thrilled to introduce you to this easy peanut butter frosting recipe. It is every bit as velvety smooth as the TJ’s pb cups but even fluffier, richer and nuttier. Making it, in my opinion, the absolute perfect way to indulge your sweet tooth.

A breeze to mix up, whipped peanut butter frosting is unmatched in its versatility. Yes, I’ll admit, I have been known to use any possible vehicle I can think of to get peanut butter into my mouth. But truly, adding this yummy frosting to the top of any dessert you desire will elevate your baking game. Personally, I am dying to add it to the top of my fudge brownies – because really, that just sounds like it would taste incredible.

Ingredients in Whipped Peanut Butter Frosting

  • Cream cheese – Make sure the cream cheese is room temperature!
  • Peanut butter – I always use Jif or Skippy, not the raw natural stuff.
  • Vanilla
  • Powdered sugar – This acts as a thickener and a sweetener!
  • Whipped topping – The cool whip is what makes this frosting ultra fluffy!

Making Peanut Butter Frosting (hint: it’s so easy!)

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer or with an electric hand mixer, combine the cream cheese and peanut butter and vanilla until smooth.
  2. Slowly add the powdered sugar until well combined.
  3. Lastly, slowly add in the whipped topping, mixing until well combined.
  4. Serve on cupcakes, brownies, cake or cookies (or whatever else your heart desires).

How do I store whipped frosting?

Because there is cool whip in this frosting, you will need to store this in a fridge! I recommend storing in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

Can I pipe this frosting?

I wouldn’t suggest piping this because it is so light and fluffy!

What can I use peanut butter frosting for?

I think the better question here is, “what CAN’T I use this frosting for?” Truly, it is a great addition to cakes (even as filling), cupcakes, cookies, brownies, pies, etc. I cannot wait to hear how you use this easy recipe!
