In reply to Lori Ament. Shoot, I'm sorry Lori! I always recommend baking a tester cookie to ensure the final texture meets your expectations before baking up the whole batch. If the cookies are spreading too much, you can add up to an additional 1/4 cup of flour and see if that helps. If you're still running into problems, try increasing the oven temperature by about 10°!

In reply to April. I used rolled oats when I tested this recipe. Quick oats should also work, it just may effect the final texture.

mine also came out flat with my first batch but everyone loved them. second batch I added 1/4 cup of flour and still came out flat.

These are the best cookies ever!
My family loves them and requests them often.
I enjoy baking these yummy toffee cookies and bringing them to parties, people always rave about them.
I add a half cup chocolate chips to my cookies because I cannot find the chocolate covered toffee bits.
