It sounds like the cake may have been over baked - I recommend reduce the baking time slightly and making sure you dump the hot baked cake immediately into your mixer right away. This will allow the heat from the cake to bind together the cake bites and reduce the likelihood of the cake becoming crumbly.

Can you freeze the cake balls by themselves with no icing?
How long are you able to keep them frozen if so?

After baking and putting in mixer my cake mix is crumbly. It will not stay in the shape of a ball. I tried it twice. Very frustrated.

What a great idea! The reason I never cared for cake balls was the canned frosting that every recipe called for to be mixed in. This is a total game changer! 😊❤️
